Patent infringing is the unauthorized use of patented invention. In the business world, there are already so many issues of patent infringements. This is one of their ways to increase their market status. However, this prohibited act should be strictly investigated with respect to the patent holder. The 1000 IBM patents acquired by Google is a big factor to help them dominate the search market. It only means that they are the only one who has the capacity to sell those inventions. People tend to approach SEO like they approach any advertising; if I put a one time ad in a certain publication or billboard then I'm going to be unleashing hoards of people who wanted what I have to offer but just didn't know about me. When that one time ad doesn't work they blame the medium instead of their lackluster understanding of advertising. SEO tends to be the same way where clients of SEO firms think if they throw a couple thousand dollars in Google ad spend at a terrible site with horrible content then their traffic will go up and they'll be the next Facebook.
